Account Information

• Password (encrypted using bcrypt)

Wine Collection Data

• Cellar inventory (bottles, locations, quantities)
• Tasting notes, scores, and ratings
• Drinking window recommendations
• Wine photos and labels you upload
• Purchase information (price, date, location)

Location Data (Optional)

Location services are opt-in only. If you enable location services, we collect GPS coordinates for:

• Showing nearby wineries and venues ("Wineries Near Me" feature)
• Validating tasting location accuracy to improve data quality for winery partners

All location data shared with wineries is anonymized. You can disable location services at any time in your settings.

Usage and Technical Data

• Browser type and version
• IP address (for security purposes)
• Pages visited and features used

2. How We Use Your Information

Providing the Service

• Manage your wine cellar inventory
• Create and store tasting notes
• Process and store wine label photos
• Show nearby wineries based on your location (if enabled)

Building Our Wine Database

We use tasting notes and wine names you enter to build and improve our wine database. This helps provide better recommendations and information to all users.

Data Sharing with Wineries

Wine names you enter contribute to "Suggested Wines for Tasting" lists at wineries and venues.

Communications

• Send service updates and important notifications
• Marketing emails (with your explicit consent - you can opt-out anytime)
• Respond to your inquiries and support requests

Analytics and Improvement

• Understand how users interact with Cellary
• Improve features and user experience

3. Third-Party Services

Google Cloud Platform

We use Google Cloud services for:

• Google Cloud Storage: Securely stores your wine photos and labels
• Google Cloud Vision API: Processes wine label images to extract text and help identify wines

Google processes this data according to their privacy policy. Photos are stored securely and are not used by Google for any other purpose.

Winery Partners

Paying winery partners receive aggregated, anonymized tasting data only (minimum 5 notes per wine). They do not receive any personally identifiable information or individual user notes.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do NOT sell your personal information to anyone.

We may share your information only in these limited circumstances:

• With your consent: When you explicitly agree to share information
• Anonymized data to wineries: As described above (free users only, unless opted out)
• Service providers: Third parties who provide services on our behalf (hosting, analytics, email delivery) under strict confidentiality agreements
• Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and safety
• Business transfers: If Cellary is acquired or merged, your information may transfer to the new entity

5. Your Privacy Rights

Access and Export Your Data

You can export all your data in JSON or CSV format at any time from your account settings. This includes:

• Cellar inventory
• Tasting notes and ratings
• Photos (links to download)
• Account information

Correct Your Information

You can update your profile, cellar data, and tasting notes directly through the app at any time.

Delete Your Account

You can permanently delete your account from Settings. This will remove:

• All personal information (email, name)
• All cellar inventory data
• All tasting notes and photos

Note: Previously aggregated and anonymized data that has been shared with wineries cannot be retrieved, as it no longer contains any information linking it to you.

Opt-Out of Data Sharing (Premium)

Premium users can opt-out of having their anonymized tasting notes shared with wineries in Privacy Settings.

Marketing Communications

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any email or by updating your preferences in Settings.

6. Data Security

We take security seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect your information:

• All passwords are encrypted using bcrypt hashing
• HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data transmission
• Secure cloud storage with access controls
• Regular security updates and monitoring
• Limited employee access to personal data

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you via email and, if required, report to relevant authorities in accordance with Australian Privacy Principles.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as:

• Your account is active
• Needed to provide services to you
• Required by law or for legitimate business purposes

When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we're required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.

8. Children's Privacy

Cellary is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.

9. International Users

Cellary is operated from Australia and complies with Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988.

If you access Cellary from outside Australia, your information may be transferred to and stored in Australia. By using our service, you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons.

We will notify you of any material changes by:

• Posting the updated policy on this page with a new "Last Updated" date
• Sending you an email notification (for significant changes)
